Ms Marianne Thyssen is Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility. She studied Law at KU Leuven where she had her first job at the Law Faculty. Prior to her political career, she was working for UNIZO for more than 10 years (SME representative organisation). After that, she served as a member of the European Parliament (1991-2014). She was also the party leader of the Flemish Christian-Democratic Party (CD&V), the Head of the Belgian delegation and the first Vice-President of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
